TVD Great Gatsby AU - Stefan Salvatore as Jay Gatsby, Caroline Forbes as Daisy Buchanan, and Klaus as Tom Buchanan
“Oh, you want too much!” she cried to Gatsby. “I love you now – isn’t that enough? I can’t help what’s past.” She began to sob helplessly. “I did love him once – but I loved you too.”
Gatsby’s eyes opened and closed.
“You loved me TOO?” he repeated.
“Even that’s a lie,” said Tom savagely. “She didn’t know you were alive. Why – there’re things between Daisy and me that you’ll never know, things that neither of us can ever forget.”
The words seemed to bite physically into Gatsby.
“I want to speak to Daisy alone,” he insisted. “She’s all excited now –”
“Even alone I can’t say I never loved Tom,” she admitted in a pitiful voice. “It wouldn’t be true.”

Klaus/Caroline/Stefan AU - Mourning Klaus’s Death
Stefan didn’t have to say a word, Caroline already knew the answer from the look in his eyes.
The truth hung between them, heavy with it’s crushing truth, laden with unspoken sorrow. They had loved him, even when they shouldn’t. And now he was gone, they didn’t quite know what to do with themselves. And she felt the moth winged flutters of something akin to panic, hysteria, and overwhelming sorrow flit in the pit of her stomach. Stefan catches before her knees hit the ground.
They stayed there in the clearing for a long while, sobbing together, mourning his death.
“Don’t look so shocked, Caroline. I’ve always known.”
Despite the string of brunettes the youngest Salvatore indulged in, trying to substitute the latest Petrova, Klaus knew that his heart had long moved on. It’s been too long and time change all things. Including affairs of the heart.
“But it never mattered because you chose me.”
She catches her bottom lip between her teeth, averts her gaze from his. It’s a tell he has had decades to learn. He brings his finger to her chin, tips up her face so that her eyes meet his.
Time changes all things. It can make the heart fonder. It can also make it colder.
“Are you still mine, Caroline?”
